Propose practices and procedures that stop breaches of the Code and Standards before they occur
The idea
Preventing Standard I problems is mostly about systems a member should encourage the firm to adopt. For knowledge of the law: a current record of the rules in each jurisdiction, regular training, and a route for raising suspected breaches with compliance. For independence: a written gift and entertainment policy with a value limit, a log of client gifts, flat-fee terms for issuer-paid work, and separation of research from investment banking. For misrepresentation: keeping copies of sources, attributing quotations, paraphrases and summaries, and reviewing marketing material before release. For misconduct: a code of ethics, reference checks on new hires and a clear disciplinary process. The trap is treating a lenient legal threshold as enough when the Code sets the higher bar.
In the app: 3 practice questions on this outcome, a narrated walkthrough with diagrams, spaced review that brings it back before you forget it.
